“Preaching” Is More Than A Homily

Anyone who has been to a Catholic liturgy during Holy Week knows that everything is not only longer – the hymns, prayers, readings – but is also full of symbols.  The red vestments of Palm Sunday, the blessed oils of the Chrism Mass, the elevated Cross on Good Friday, the single flame of the Paschal Candle at the Easter Vigil are just some of the symbols of Holy Week… in the midst of these long and rich liturgies, what’s a preacher to do?
