Veritas: A Dominican Approach to Mission

The Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (aka IDEO) hosted a workshop for Dominican friars and sisters at the studium in Lille, France from June 12-15. The workshop is part of an ongoing 3-year cycle meant to introduce and educated the Order (especially those in formation) about the world of Islam. This week's focus was the Qur'an. Over 4 days, presentations were made by experts (religious and lay, Muslim and Christian) in their respective fields:

fr. Emilio Platti, OP: General Introduction to the Qur'an. 

Dr. Farid el-Asri: The Qur'an in the Life of Believers - An Anthropological Point of View.

ffr. Jean-Jacques Pérennès, OP and Jean Druel, OP: Religious Issues of the Egyptian Revolution (a panel discussion open to the public).

fr. Claude Gilliot, OP: Classic/Medieval Qur'anic Exegesis.

Dr. Pierre Lory: The Figure of Abraham in mystical Commentaries of the Qur'an. 

Dr. Geneviève Gobillot: The Qur'an, the Bible, and their Apocryphal Traditions. 

One may be tempted to ask the question, "Why?" And
