Thanks be to God! Today the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great received three diocesan priests into the Priestly Fraternity of St. Dominic during Vespers. Congratulations to Fr. Philip Louis Bené (Tribunal), Fr. Christopher Henry Dominic Seiler (St. Gabriel), and Fr. Henry Pius Purcell (St. Simon the Apostle) from the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
The Priestly Fraternity of St. Dominic is a fraternity of diocesan priests that have special affiliation with the Dominican Order. The priests receive formation in the Dominican tradition, understanding the preaching charism and observances of the Rule for Priestly Fraternities of St. Dominic. The priestly fraternity was part of the Dominican Third Order Secular until 1968, when the lay and priestly fraternities developed their own rules to follow. Through their profession, priests of the fraternity carry on their ministry as diocesan priests, but share in the grace and mission of the Dominican Family and receive continued guidance from the Dominican brothers.
