Transitional Deacon, Solemn Vows, Professed September 3, 2011 - The oldest of three sons, Brother Thomas More first began discerning a call to the priesthood when he was around 12 years old. Named Rodolfo Jose after his grandfather, he also took his grandfather’s (and his father’s) nickname, “Rudy.” He was drawn to be a priest by God's grace working through the religious, prayerful life instilled in him by his parents and his family’s weekly participation at Mass at his parish of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. While immersed in the rigorous demands of a liberal arts curriculum at the University of Dallas, he worked in Campus Ministry and was assigned as an intern to Father Philip Neri Powell, O.P., who introduced him to Dominican life. Taking his religious name in honor of St. Thomas More, he admires More’s dedication to the preservation of authentic religious and political freedom, his love of his family and devotion to the Church, his tenacious prayer life, and his belief in a liberal arts education. In his scant spare time, Brother Thomas More enjoys reading, exercising, baking, and listening to music.
