On Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 2 PM, three brothers made solemn profession in the Order of Preachers during Mass at the old Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. These three men knelt before the Prior Provincial of the Central Province and promised lifelong obedience, following the ancient formula:
"I, Brother ___________, make profession and promise obedience to God, to Blessed Mary, and to Blessed Dominic, and to you, Brother Charles Everall Bouchard, Prior Provincial of the Province of St. Albert the Great, in place of Br. Bruno Cadoré, Master of the Order of Friars Preachers and his successors, according to the Rule of Blessed Augustine and the institutions of the Friars Preachers, that I will be obedient to you and your successors until death."
Thus did Brs. Nick Monco, Luke Barder, and Jude McPeak, become lifelong members of the Order of Preachers, surrounded by their fellow friars as well as many family members and friends.
In an interesting twist, all three professandi, though not Indiana natives, all have a tie to Purdue University. The Province of St. Albert the Great is privileged to staff St. Thomas Aquinas, the Catholic Center at Purdue; Br. Luke, a graduate of Purdue, was active at the church during his studies, and Br. Nick and Br. Jude both spent their third year of studies as friars working for the church.
Please continue to pray for these three men as their continue their studies in preparation for their eventual ordination to the priesthood.
