Mountain or Desert?

The Temptation on the Mount

Mountain or Desert?

Forty day and forty nights

Were enough to make the body
Match the soul in hunger.
Flesh and spirit united,
God’s word will suffice.

With a Wordfilled thought

There you are,

Crying down upon a lonely, lost world
When you could simply wish it
And mountains would move,
Hearts would turn,
All creation would break your fall.
But you need no proof,
Because you are Love enfleshed.

Can one mind engage

All the pleasures of the world?
Just one would command my will
—but all?  For what price?
But this illusion lifts like smoke,
Knowing who you are
And why you’re here

And who loved you first.

The choice is clear.
